GTG Invitational
  • Just a quick shout out to the one and only Payu for hosting the first annual Grow The Game Invitational and treating all of us Americans like kings during our visit. What an incredible experience!

Where do you guys think Payu should have the 2012 GTG Invitational?

  • I want to go back to Thailand! haha. Anywhere actually... as long as we get to GTG!
Singapore playing TLA this weekend and HK played TLA in a few weeks. Big things!

  • We need to do this type of event with a foreign team at least once a year. Maybe even trade between hosting and visiting every other year.

  • I agree with Josh, definitely need to trade off hosting and visiting. Maybe host the game in emerging areas? places like florida, texas, minnesota, out west, etc

  • Reply to @TheLax: I too am in agreement with trading hosting sites every other year. Would add some depth to the "host" team that might not be there if they always had to travel.

  • The Italian American Lacrosse Club is planning on going to Italy in 2013, might be a good one for LAS to jump on with for a GTG trip

  • Reply to @LaxBro: I did get that wrong. However I'd still like to get a large group of teams to head to Italy in 2013 with the I.A.L.C. to help GTG in Italy and possibly play in their main tournament

  • We're happy to host again for 2012... as we (TLA and LAS) has developed a strong bond in international lacrosse. If there are other organization who would like to host that would be great to for the "global lacrosse initiative"... however, I want to address one thing that seems to happen with any international lacrosse event is hosting "readiness" and "capability". That's why the FIL and the APLU are more strict when it come to site selections for their event.

As you know that Thailand is "ready and capable" to host the event, especially now that we might try to put GTG event on the same week as ASPAC2012 in Thailand.

  • Reply to @Payu_TLA: Good call on having it in Thailand again for 2012. The facilities are incredible for this type of showcase event and there is still so much more we can do to help grow the game in Bangkok. Hopefully we can help you and your program run a couple more youth clinics during the week and get all the kids in the stands for the game! Oh, and we can give LAS readers a video tour of the Chatuchak Market!
  • Maybe sometime Argentina could travel to Usa or Thailand!!!!

  • I saw that Thailand also has a women's team. Getting a LAS womens team together might be fun.
  • Reply to @HWalters: I agree Hannah! But seeing as I can't play women's lax, we need someone to organize... hint, hint!

  • Do that, and I'll put the women's team together... we can do the same format, Thai mixed with American and divide into 2 teams.
