PNCLL Scores, Discussion, Hype - Week 6: Mar 5th–11th

    Portland State @ Montana – 3PM MT
    Western Washington @ Pacific Lutheran – 7PM PT

    Portland State @ Montana State (Missoula, MT) – 9AM MT

    Oregon State v Boise state shapes up as one of the biggest conference matchups in recent memory that didn't involve either the Ducks or the Clansmen.

    Both the Beavers and the Broncos have already beaten the Clansmen in games which don't count towards playoffs. One of these rising teams could well be at the PNCLL Final Four, while the other will almost certainly be sitting at home (assuming that the Ducks do earn one of D1-South's slots). This one counts. Alot!

    And yes, before everyone jumps down my throat, I DO recognize that Portland State still has a chance to earn a slot also.... it's just my 2 cents it will be either OSU or BSU which emerges as one of the playoff teams. No disrespect intended to the Vikings!

    I agree with the majority of your predictions. WSU v MSU should be quite the game. Aslo Whitman v C of I. C of I seems to be a wildcard this year. I know very little about their program. Both Whitman and C of I have light schedules which should allow them both to do a fair amount of scouting and gameplanning of their opponent. I wish I could watch both the games, but I'm sure someone on these boards will keep us updated as both games progress.

    So what's with Whitman's roster? I was looking at it today and 7 of their 8 freshman who have played in games are not listed on the mcla.us roster page any more. Computer glich?

    Well now that WOU has fallen back to Earth, the loyalists are nowhere to be seen. It looks like they were the real reason people came back to the forums.

    And the forums can’t die Will! This would be Dan and Jason’s tax dollars would finally go towards me doing some actual work, we can’t let that happen.

    Let's just relabel everything PNCLL discussion as D2 PNCLL discussion. It is only occasionally that any D1 comment breaks through the endless back an forth between CC, Steno, Steve etc. OK, I guess any discussion is better than none. Someday I want to hire a sociologist to explain why D2 generates so much discussion and so little light.

    Maybe bhsvideodad will have to do an investigative documentary on this issue. Volunteers?

    bhsvideodad, you nailed it on the head! I usually refrain from posting for that very reason, I feel as through no matter what I post about D1, it will be lost in a black hole for D2 discussion. Oh and your documentary is something I would really enjoy watching!

    SOU wins 21-4 over Willamette. Strong Raider Hawk defense held the leading scorer in the PNCLL (DII) McAnnis-Entenman to a single goal. SOU has five players all with 5 or more points for the game led by Tom Halley's 6pts and 5 assists. Great way to close out the first half of the season before making the spring break trip to S CA.

    Out of Walla Walla, the Missionaries got a dominant win over the Yotes 24-7. The score was tied 3-3 halfway through the first, only to watch Whitman go on a lengthy 12-1 run to finish out the half. Nearly all of their goals were assisted as Whitman executed offensive rotations with keen precision. A tightly called match but not very physical as both teams sought to let the ball do most of the work. Thanks to Whitman for hosting and best of luck on the rest of their season, they have a sharp looking squad.

    Yes they did, and he really earned that one...he demonstrated considerable drive to score as there were about 3 Raiders on him at close range.

    I would also like to mention that I believe Willamette had a single sub for the entire game but their players never ceased to hustle.

    Can someone help me out with how the D1 playoffs work this year? Last year we treated is as a juice-box league and everyone made it to the playoffs and there were A LOT of complaints from those teams that had to travel to play UO and Fraser in the first round. Is it still 8 teams making it? Is it all 9 with a playoff game? I don’t remember it being brought up at the meeting, which is weird because it was a huge focal point going into the meeting.

    I am just curious why you think D1 is so much better? Didn't your team lose to WOU in the fall....? Just saying..... There are plenty of D2 teams that would smash on Idaho, so I do think it is relevant to talk about BETTER teams. It's the MCLA, not NCAA. Sheesh

    Mr. L I don't think a sociologist is necessary, just look at the average age of the D1 torch bearers. You and Wish are like the lacrosse loving grandfathers us D2 forum goers never had. As for guys like Shaun, who have been on the forums 30+ times and made one post containing a single box score, what kind of lengthy discussion are you expecting? Y'all need to stop drinking the punch at Band's D1 business meetings and lighten up.
