  • I am either going to be really happy or really angry when I leave Bellingham on Saturday. Hopefully the former. WWU won easily last time at home vs a depleted WOU roster in 2010 and I dont think this year will be much different but I am still nervous. I do wish we could see this game with WOU at full strength but history tells me this won't be the only time they meet eachother this year.
  • Speaking from the other side of the Western Bowl I echo Cody's statement. I'm looking forward to the game but don't expect much for my Wolves in this match. A down year compounded by injuries is never a good way to enter into a rivalry game.

I hope Portland comes out ready to fight against Concordia, speaking from experience the Eagles are better than the Fullerton squad who just beat UP. Couple that with Concordia being handed their first loss and I'm expecting a very unhospitable CUI team that looks to punch teams in the mouth from the first whistle.

On the D1 side, I like the Ducks and Canucks over the visiting Illini team, I don't think Idaho wins and Boise State/Montana could be interesting with both teams allowing double digits against in every game thus far.
  • Ya, WOU unfortunately has got hit with the low roster/injury bug that has plagued other PNCLL teams in the past and present. It is tough, but can really bring a team together in the long run. WOU's young guns will get to learn a lot from this as they are being pushed into the spotlight. No fun now, but it will really pay off for the Wolves possibly as soon as playoffs if guys continue to work hard every week, no matter what happened the week before.

  • Oregon over Illinois. An overrated Illinois will probably lose by 10+ to a much better Ducks team.

UCLA over Idaho. I want Idaho to win, but UCLA handled the Beavers who did the same to Idaho. Probably looking at an 8 goal game.

Boise State over Montana. Montana is on a down year, Boise State is looking solid. I have faith that the Griz can keep it close, but probably another 8 goal game.

Simon Fraser over Illinois. Again, Illinois is overrated and will be coming off a tough game against Oregon. Simon Fraser will be rested and will take this one too. Looking at a 5 goal Clan win.

Santa Clara over Idaho. This game is probably more of a push. SC doesn’t have a win against a team with a winning record, good for them is Idaho doesn’t have a winning record. Santa Clara takes this is a close game, 1 or 2 goals.

  • since Portland is the only team playing games so far this week - what's up with them? They gave up 10 goals to Whitman in their first game, but except for the loss to Concordia they seem real solid on defense, but the offense looks non-existent except against the real bad teams. Did they lose a bunch of guys on offense to injury?
  • They have not been the most potent offensive team these past few years. They are have a strong defensive unit (lead by Henry) and run a patient possession offense, but they don't run away with too many games.

Yeah LaxJunky hit it perfectly, when has UP had a potent offense? I think they are certainly building towards that by having 5 freshman leading all scorers. Since entering the MCLA in 2009 the Pilots have had only 8 games (20%) where they scored 10 or more goals but they are 8-0 in those games.
  • I was just checking out SFUs schedule and I am curious as to why they are going down to LA to play just 1 game against LMU? Seems like a long way for 1 game.

  • Oregon 21-3 over Illinois (ranked 18 for now). Oregon put up 20 against Simon Fraser, 19 against Florida, 21 against Illinois. There offense is cooking. OK I skipped over their 10-5 win against the UW.

No shame in that win over U-Dub, in which I thought the Ducks would be held to 9 until a late goal in the final minute. The Ducks were by far the better team, but Spencer Adams came up huge in goal for the Huskies that day and kept the margin respectable.

Washington has been hit really hard by injuries in 2012, and was without not only Linari but also lost defensive stalwart Candoo very early against UO. Coach Kerns deserves credit for keeping Dawgs focused and battling through the adversity against some really good competition during this brutal stretch of games. It won't get easier next week, when UW heads to Colorado for games at CSU and CU.

  • Unofficial from WOU's Twitter: WWU 13 - 10 WOU. Tough loss for the Wolves, although I wouldn't be surprised if these two teams meet again this season.

Tough loss for Montana. Taking the lead by the 3rd quarter, 6-5. I think Montana is a good team, just having some trouble this year getting it done...

  • Another dismal year for the PNCLL in OOC competition. Although Oregon is 4-2 and SFU is 2-2 now in these games, the rest of our conference is 0-16 against D1 OOC opposition.
  • And UW is taking a Colorado trip this week too... Also sorry to say but Montana is not a "good team". Just go back and look at their wins/losses and try to justify that comment. You cant do it.

  • Ok this D1 discussion is massively overtaking the all important division 2 forum talk. I wanted to take a minute to highlight the Western Bowl. WWU is a team that seemed light years ahead of where they were in the Vegas games. It didn't hurt that they shot the lights out in the first quarter (12 shots, 11 on cage, 6 goals) and our goalie had to work for everyone of those saves. They boast a very confident midfield. Their trio of freshman (Goodman, Stafford, and Hatcher) all played lights out and make this Viking squad a scary opponent for the next few seasons. Just a quick plug for Hatcher as well, I know the WWU alum in Vegas were bummed that he couldn't travel and now I see why he is hands down my FOTY candidate if he continues to play in games the way he did (otherwise it will go to Goodman or Stafford most likely). It was great to see another battle of the 4's with Mark Iliyn and Colin Gaddy both putting on a hattrick performance (very 2010 championshipesque). I think the brightest spot for WOU was close defenseman Logan Marks performance holding a very capable Farahani scoreless while forcing two turnovers and collecting 7 gbs. Lastly and I think this is important to say because admittedly I get on the refs too much, the officiating crew was phenomenal. This was a heavyweight battle and both teams were not pulling any punches and the refs maintained complete control and called the most consistent game I have witnessed from a MCLA crew. I fear that both teams will have players foul out in their next PNCLL games because of how vastly different this game was called but it was worth it to get a playoff like game in March.

I tried my hardest, and no one even said “good job” on my 5-0 week…
  • Not from the PNCLL but I will say good job anyways... maybe then people will get back to talking..... Seriously? Big weekend in St. Louis and no one wants to chat about or argue about what might happen? I'm bored peoples!

  • WWU win over CSU-LB, aka the beach, 12-6. They have Fullerton on tap today at 4pm. Should be a good one.
